I'd seen pop-up tunnels advertised at pet stores for some time before we decided to go ahead and get one. As usual, husband-man had the right instinct and got enthused about getting Kato a tunnel...and then getting more tunnels to create tunnel-land throughout the apartment.
Thankfully that didn't quite happen - but we do now have two tunnels! So here's some wisdom on tunnels if you want to connect them - get the same brand! They'll have the same connection mechanisms. Our two tunnels LOOK the same, but are actually from different companies. So one has press studs, one has velcro, and an easy connection just aint possible. Of course, that's not to say it is impossible for the creative - or that tunnels can't become connected to a larger play ground.
At present, one of our tunnels lives downstairs, and the other upstairs. The change in location to downstairs gave the tunnel a fresh exciting status, while the one upstairs is regularly loved and also useful as a hidey place to break-up chasey/wrestling games that get a little too intense. The tunnels are loved so much, that both Kato and Ava look askance at us when we pack them up for our fortnightly cleaning - they are greeted with much jubilance once they are restored to shape and floor. And that's probably another good feature to mention - the tunnels concertina down into an almost flat circle, with ties to hold them together for when you need to put them away.
We liked one brand better than the other for functionality and seeming quality - the Karli cat tunnel. This link was the cheapest I could find, as some places will sell for closer to $50. I've not purchased from that store before, so here's another shop I have previously used with no problems that sells the Karli cat tunnel. It's one piece of cat furniture I think is essential in our home.
