In an earlier post, I 'mapped' my thinking on canned cat food into a question-based flowchart. And literally, this is how I work out if I will feed a certain canned food to Kato and Ava (note that kibble is an entirely different matter and I write about it under cat food problems).
So this is the 'thinking' in action. The first example I will answer all the questions, but the next examples I will do as much thinking as necessary to get my verdict - it really is pretty simple:

A6: don't need to know - I already have a verdict |
Outcome: I won't buy it for a number of reasons (and seriously, MARIGOLDS? Since when did cats feed off flowers??)

Outcome: I won't buy it because of the cereals (cats are carnivores and don't do well on carbs - see my posts under 'Cat Food Problems')

Outcome: I won't buy it (and look how much of the protein comes from non-animal sources - see my posts under 'Cat Food Problems')
As you can see, it's pretty easy to weed through a lot of canned cat food that just isn't doing our cats many favours. The really difficult part is actually finding something that IS nutritious for cats...stay posted, I'll be working on a compilation list soon...
