Some cat trees come with pom poms or mice attached in some way. We probably had one at one stage...the problem with a lot of these toys is that they are poor quality, and don't stay as a feature of the tree for very long (especially with active cats!) But we have discovered that you can put your own toys scattered through the Tree, or as attachments.
I recently bought a toy at our local pet shop, thinking I would use it attached to a wand. The toy in question was actually a stand alone toy, that attached to a door. So the next step in this toy's evolution, was becoming attached to our Cat Tree!
As a wand toy attachment, it was good - but it seems we have more exciting toys with the wand just at present. Attached to the Cat Tree, it is doing a very nice job, albeit in rather unintended ways. Sure, the butterflies get some swatting and tactical play through the levels of the Tree, but we have attached the 'over the door' attachment in a horizontal manner, clipping into the edge of a Cat Tree ledge. Which means the stick part of this apparatus is vertical - and is serving as a chewing post! For both Ava (who is still teething) and our big boy Kato! The toy we used is the All For Paws Natural Instincts Butterflies.
